I watched the first 2 episodes of hitman reborn, it just seems kind of childish to me. I am looking for something a little more serious and mature.

The japanese term for big anime fan is "otaku".
i have watched many animes and several movies, however the only anime merchandise that i own is a Gundam figure that i got when i was little (but, i wouldn’t mind getting a poster or some anime dvds)
when i was in elementary school i drew anime even though i didn’t watch it, but i stopped drawing years ago. i’ve watching anime online for about 2 years now. most of the shows were really good, but some were just stupid.

also, the biggest reason that i watch animes is, how imaginative the storys are. i don’t watch anime just because i like anime.

I don’t mind if the animes recommended have nudity or a lot of violence in them. That’s all fine in my book. I just want the animes to be good.
Try Neon Genesis Evangelion (including the movie The End of Evangelion. I wouldn’t bother with the Eva movie Death and Rebirth though; it’s just a recap of the series and the 1st half of End).

This is my second AMV so far I LOVED working on this one because the song is awesome and the series is amazing. So it was no biggy to look at the scenes over and over I used the Meatloaf and Marion Raven version of the song because you totally need a duet for this AMV. Plus I always liked that version better. Anyway,
This is a compilation of scenes from rahxephon showing the story of Haruka and Ayato. Ayato grew up in Tokyo Jupiter, so because of the time delay, when he comes out of TJ, Haruka is 12 years older than him 
Fortunately, at the end of the series (and at the end of my MV) after merging with the RahXephon, Ayato “retunes the world” and restores the lost time between the two of them (awwww!)
The usual legal stuff applies. I do not own RahXephon, Meatloaf, or Marion Raven. If you want me to remove it and you have that authority, tell me please.

Which one did you like better and why?
I loved Evangelion,thought provoking and psychologically intriguing.
Rahxephon was awesome to, but can’t compare to Evangelion.
rahxephon= look into the soul, into harmony and acceptance of yourself and others.
Evangleion= Self-insight, trauma,fear,pain,joy,loneliness all rolled up into one plot.
Rah Xephon (ラーゼフォン, Rāzefon) is a Japanese anime series about 17-year-old Ayato Kamina, his ability to control a godlike mecha known as the RahXephon, and his inner journey to find a place in the world around him. His peaceful life as a student and artist in Tokyo is suddenly interrupted by a mysterious woman who appears to be stalking him, strange planes invading the city, and even stranger machines fighting back.
The original 26-episode anime television series was the first directed by Yutaka Izubuchi. It was created by Izubuchi and Bones, and it aired on Fuji TV from January to September 2002.
