hiya ^^ im looking for a kinda post apocalyptic (did i spell that right?) lol! anime!! or something similar to the world being in chaos or involved in a major universal war. even something where one race is against the other!!

I watched the first 2 episodes of hitman reborn, it just seems kind of childish to me. I am looking for something a little more serious and mature.

The japanese term for big anime fan is "otaku".
i have watched many animes and several movies, however the only anime merchandise that i own is a Gundam figure that i got when i was little (but, i wouldn’t mind getting a poster or some anime dvds)
when i was in elementary school i drew anime even though i didn’t watch it, but i stopped drawing years ago. i’ve watching anime online for about 2 years now. most of the shows were really good, but some were just stupid.
here’s a list of the animes that i’ve watched. i’m not counting anime that i’ve only seen a couple of episodes, or the ones i watched as a little kid. i’ve seen 24 shows and 10 movies.

also, the biggest reason that i watch animes is, how imaginative the storys are. i don’t watch anime just because i like anime.
I guess so, but I would know because my best friend is a HUGE Otaku.

What are some good intelligent plot animes that involve mechs other than Code Geass or Rahxephon?

I don’t mind if the animes recommended have nudity or a lot of violence in them. That’s all fine in my book. I just want the animes to be good.
Try Neon Genesis Evangelion (including the movie The End of Evangelion. I wouldn’t bother with the Eva movie Death and Rebirth though; it’s just a recap of the series and the 1st half of End).

And, it may not be a mecha anime, but I also highly recommend Serial Experiments:lain. It’s also very intelligent.

RahXephon – Haruka and Ayato – It’s all coming back to me now

DO NOT WATCH OR READ THE DESCRIPTION if you wish not to be spoiled.
This is my second AMV so far I LOVED working on this one because the song is awesome and the series is amazing. So it was no biggy to look at the scenes over and over I used the Meatloaf and Marion Raven version of the song because you totally need a duet for this AMV. Plus I always liked that version better. Anyway,
This is a compilation of scenes from rahxephon showing the story of Haruka and Ayato. Ayato grew up in Tokyo Jupiter, so because of the time delay, when he comes out of TJ, Haruka is 12 years older than him 
Fortunately, at the end of the series (and at the end of my MV) after merging with the RahXephon, Ayato “retunes the world” and restores the lost time between the two of them (awwww!)
The usual legal stuff applies. I do not own RahXephon, Meatloaf, or Marion Raven. If you want me to remove it and you have that authority, tell me please.

Which one did you like better and why?
I loved Evangelion,thought provoking and psychologically intriguing.
Rahxephon was awesome to, but can’t compare to Evangelion.
rahxephon= look into the soul, into harmony and acceptance of yourself and others.
Evangleion= Self-insight, trauma,fear,pain,joy,loneliness all rolled up into one plot.

Rah Xephon (ラーゼフォン, Rāzefon) is a Japanese anime series about 17-year-old Ayato Kamina, his ability to control a godlike mecha known as the RahXephon, and his inner journey to find a place in the world around him. His peaceful life as a student and artist in Tokyo is suddenly interrupted by a mysterious woman who appears to be stalking him, strange planes invading the city, and even stranger machines fighting back.
The original 26-episode anime television series was the first directed by Yutaka Izubuchi. It was created by Izubuchi and Bones, and it aired on Fuji TV from January to September 2002. It was produced by Fuji TV, Bones, Media Factory and Victor Entertainment. The series received critical acclaim and was subsequently translated, released on DVD and aired in several other countries, including the United States. An adapted movie called RahXephon: Pluralitas Concentio was directed by Tomoki Kyoda, with plot changes and a few new scenes, was released in 2003. Novels, an extra OVA episode, an audio drama, computer games, illustration books, and a somewhat tweaked manga adaptation by Takeaki Momose were also created.
Music, time, archetypal mystery, intrigues and romance are central elements of RahXephon’s plot. The series shows clear influences from philosophy and Japanese folklore, and from Western literature such as the work of James Churchward. Mesoamerican and other Pre-Columbian civilizations have a prominent place in the cultural background of the series. Director Izubuchi said rahxephon was his attempt to set a new standard for mecha anime, as well as to bring back aspects of 1970s mecha shows like Brave Raideen.
