What are you attracted to Japanese Anime and Manga?
by admin on Aug.25, 2009, under anime
I see many questions about Japanese Anime and Manga in Yahoo Answers.
This is is good for Japanese people because many people have interest about Japanese culture.
By the way, these are originally made for Japanese not foreigners.
What are you attracted to Japanese Anime and manga?
Thanks in advance.
I like fictional media such as movies, books etc; can’t explain why, I just find them interesting. Before I got into anime and manga I read novels about 6 hours a day (Now it’s anime 6 hours a day ^_^). I prefer anime to any other media now, because, well, watching animation is so much more interesting than reading text, which would be why I like video, and anime specifically because of how well the story is done, how funny it is, etc.

I found two Manga (Trigun, Samurai Champloo) that discuss male homosexuality. Does anyone know any others?
by admin on May.14, 2009, under trigun
Japanese manga opens itself for a variety of topics, including homosexuality. I was amazed and encouraged to see anime seriously discuss it in two series (trigun and Samurai Champloo). Now, that has piqued my curiousity and I'm searching for more anime that broaches this subject. Does anybody know of any others?
Kaorin has a lesbian fetish/crush on Sakaki in Azumanga Daioh.
Kawaru (Evangelion) is depicted ambiguously…he might be gay and might not.
What is the correct pronunciation of manga?
by admin on May.14, 2009, under manga
Okay, so I've always learned that manga is pronounced like "main-ga".
But, I've recently encountered some different ways to say it, like "mahn-ga" or "manja." Now, I know that last one isn't right, but what about the first two? How is it pronounced? Thanks in advance!
Big manga fan, just with bad pronunciation Lol.
Look to the Japanese.
"manga" is composed of the syllabic characters "Ma" "n" "ga".
With very few exceptions, these are pronounced consistently (unlike English or a number of other Roman-styled languages).
Properly, we have "Mah-n-ga". Feel free to run it together quickly — it retains its pronunciation fast or slow.

Why is the schoolgirl theme so popular in Japanese animation?
by admin on Apr.30, 2009, under japanese animation
And in manga, comics, and in many movies and media in Japan?
If a Japanese person asked you "Why is the T-shirt and blue jeans theme so popular in American TV/comics/movies?," how would you answer that?
Most animation and comics are aimed at teenagers, and almost all Japanese junior and senior high school students wear uniforms of the same basic type. Also, students often wear their uniforms even at home and outside of school. So of course, most of the teenage characters in said anime and manga are going to be wearing school uniforms most of the time.
Now, there are some anime and manga and pornos that specifically revolve around the schoolgirl theme, sure, but I think a lot of what people perceive as "schoolgirl theme anime" is just regular teenager action or drama stuff, and the teenage characters happen to be wearing uniforms just like real life teenagers do.
