Shockwave, you’re a catholic gamer, huh? I’m not afraid of hell because such place can’t and doesn’t exist, but you can live on with your delusions.

anime
manga
Otaku

Each singular form also serves as a plural. Japanese does not have a commonly used plural-form.

If you HAVE to say that there are multiple, then Anime-tachi, Manga-tachi, Otaku-tachi. But if you are using the words in an otherwise English sentence, then the verb form would imply which one you mean.

Example. "I can’t stand otaku. All they do is gripe about their favorite anime. If an otaku starts shouting at me about their favorite pairing again, then I’m gonna SCREAM!" First use of otaku- plural. Second use- singular.

Like the English word "fish," the plural is implied.

And by the way, otaku actually means something different than just a fan of anime. The original word means something like a stalker- like "someone who would break into a stars house for a lock of their hair" kind of stalker. It’s quite rude to call someone an otaku.

Im gunna be on vacation soon, and was wondering if anyone knew of some good anime/manga/japanese/otaku stores in these areas, preferably in:
Trevose, PA
Downtown Philly
The Jersey Shore
New Hope
Lower Manhattan
Grand Central station
Area around the Empire State building
Area around the new york opera house

Thanks for any help! Even book stores and DVD shops would be great!

Try Kinokuniya in Manhattan. It’s right across from Bryant Park and the entire second floor is filled with anime and manga.

i would like a comedy like ranma half
action not necessary
nudity is needed a lot(not partial but complete like ranma!)
am tired of watching action anime

Lol. I watched ranma 1/2. But well, all anime never show… it’s always censored, sorry. Lol. Anyway, Inuyasha should be good. The voice actor is the same as Ranma, and it’s by the same company. I’ve never watched it before, so I don’t know where you can watch it, but… yeah. And I’m pretty sure there’s comedy.

Hmm… Naruto is nice… there’s a lot of action, yes, but there’s plenty of comedy too. Also, from time to time Naruto will transform into a nude girl… O.o And then the perverts will get nose bleeds after seeing him. Lol. But it’s censored by clouds. So yeah. Watch in on http://www.narutowire.com .

Erm… you might like Love Love. It’s a short anime, no action. Harem, comedy and a little romance anime. There’s nudity, but of course censored. But it’s less censored compared to most anime I’ve watched. It’s almost hentai, but not. No sex. Watch it on http://www.crunchyroll.com . There, you can also find a lot of other almost-hentai anime. I guess it’s called ecchi anime? O.o

***

Oh, and this might help you. They’re lists of hentai and ecchi anime. But I’m pretty sure all anime are censored. Haha.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hentai_anime

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_ecchi_anime

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Ecchi_anime_and_manga

And this too… It’s a hentai site just for Ranma 1/2. Free access, but they sell comic books which you must pay for.

I hope that helps your search. Anyway, good luck!~

Are there any manga with girl otaku?

On September 19, 2009, in otaku, by admin

I am looking for some manga that have girl otaku characters.

Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu

http://www.animeseason.com/nogizaka-haruka-no-himitsu/

http://www.mangafox.com/manga/nogizaka_haruka_no_himitsu/

Synopsis:
The main character, Ayase Yuuto is your average boy without any special traits. He attends a private high school where he is one of the many and doesn’t stand out, until, one day, he happens to discover the secret of the school princess Nogizaka Haruka, and his life changes drastically from there on.
Haruka, the school’s most unattainable girl, is so idolized in the school for both, her looks and intelligence, that her classmates nickname her Nuit Étoile (The Silver Star of the Night) and Lumière du Clavier (The Shining Princess on the Piano). However, nobody knows that it is only a fake role she assumes to hide her true nature. In reality she is a die-hard fan of anime, manga, and otaku culture.

It’s very cute, I really liked it. :p

Are there any anime or manga about an otaku couple?

On September 19, 2009, in otaku, by admin

I want to know if there are any anime or manga about a couple who both like anime or video games.

hm.
Welcome To The N.H.K.

It’s about one male Hikikomori, Tatsuhiro Satou is a 22-year-old NEET (Not currently engaged in Employment, Education, or Training). His life is a wreck; he is antisocial, fears going outside, and believes that there is a conspiracy involving the "NHK"[Nipon Hikikomori Kyōkai]. One day, he meets a high school aged girl named Misaki through a chain of awkward events. She invites him to be a part of her "project", which offers an escape from his NEET lifestyle, and his life slowly begins to change. He spends a lot of his time with an otaku who lives in the Apartment next door in Tokyo.

That’s not really what you asked for, but it’s good. I recommend it.

I’m talking about the scenes where it slips into a black and white style that looks like drawn pages of a manga comic book. Are they actual pages from a published manga, or just invented for the series? Thanks!

According to my sources flcl Manga came after the anime series. The manga and chibi scenes in the series were done as a form of satire; an idiom prevalent through out this great series.

I have not personally seen the manga but most fans agree they do not do the series Justice

Cheers :-)

If your an anime Otaku does tht mean your a geek ?!?

On September 15, 2009, in otaku, by admin

xD the reason why i asked this cus i was watching an anime and on the bottom there was this ad tht says " Dating for anime fans :people like YOU are on geek 2 geek . Meet and date other geeks" lol !

Yeah that advert drives me insane! Everytime I go on MAL it’s like "people like you" as I’m diseased T____T

Otaku’s and anime fans are different things. I’ll probably get thumbs down but I resent people who call themselves Otaku’s because they wouldn’t call themself an otaku if they realised how they were insulting themselves. You will tend to find most people who call themselves otaku are not really Otaku (otaku‘s are slightly less extreme than Hikkikomori but will spend a lot of money and time on anime more than general living… Basically obsessed with anime) and to be called an otaku in Japan is considered heavily insulting.

"In general colloquial usage however, most Japanese would consider it undesirable to be described in a serious fashion as "otaku"; many even consider it to be a genuine insult." (from Wikipedia)

Being an anime fan like me though, doesn’t mean I’m a geek, just means I have an interest xP. I have watched loads now (200+ series) and read loads of manga, but I know that I’m not a geek just because I watch it since I don’t let it take priority in my life like otaku’s do. Considering my boyfriend isn’t an anime fan (though I’m on a mission to change his bias) it proves that I’m not going to end up dating some "geek" just because I like anime. It is unfortunate that in society the words geek + anime seemed to be inseparable apart from by people who actually like anime and manga.

I guess it depends on how you interpret the misconception of the definition of otaku, in western society it now means a hardcore anime fan so to speak, I guess they are not geeks, but I do wish they’d realise what they are doing when they call themselves otaku (like atleast wikipedia the definition so they don’t sit back and insult themselves to Japanese people.).

I see many questions about Japanese Anime and Manga in Yahoo Answers.
This is is good for Japanese people because many people have interest about Japanese culture.
By the way, these are originally made for Japanese not foreigners.
What are you attracted to Japanese Anime and manga?

Thanks in advance.

I like fictional media such as movies, books etc; can’t explain why, I just find them interesting. Before I got into anime and manga I read novels about 6 hours a day (Now it’s anime 6 hours a day ^_^). I prefer anime to any other media now, because, well, watching animation is so much more interesting than reading text, which would be why I like video, and anime specifically because of how well the story is done, how funny it is, etc.

also add dweeb, dork, and gamer to the equation.

otaku is a Japanese term used to refer to people with obsessive interests, particularly anime, manga, and video games.

fetish: excessive or irrational devotion to some activity; "made a fetish of cleanliness"

geek, a person with an odd personality

nerd: an insignificant student who is ridiculed as being affected or boringly studious

dweeb: an insignificant student who is ridiculed as being affected or boringly studious ( yes, same as nerd)

dork: jerk: a dull stupid fatuous person

gamer: A person who plays games, particularly video games;Historically, the term "gamer" usually referred to someone who played role-playing games or wargames

When I say ‘group’ I mean organization. I want to know why you like them, why they’re badass, what anime/manga they’re from etc.

Ex: my opinion is the Genei Ryodan from Hunter x Hunter. They’re frickn tight. I like how they operate loosely yet together. They frickn conducted a symphony of death to their fallen comrade!

Hope I get some good ones

Strawhats from One Piece

I consider them the most badass of the crew of One Piece. Their techniques and use of power is beyond amazing. Their beliefs and goals and dreams is what strives them to continue to conquer the oceans and hopefully they fulfill their dreams. Their battle skills are awesome and it’s original.
